Hello, everyone!
I just want to welcome you to my blog and introduce myself. (You might have read some of this on my About Me page.)
My name is Heather and I am 25 years old. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Steven, and we have two sweet little girls and a German Shepherd. I plan on sharing our adventures and some of the things that we experience on this roller coaster called life with all of you through this awesome blog!
I definitely feel like a back-story is necessary at this point to get you guys kind of caught up to where we are at right now in our lives. My husband grew up in a small town in Alabama and is a born and raised country boy! I, however, grew up all over the United States because my dad was in the Air Force. We moved every 2 years or so during my childhood, and while I didn’t always like the frequent moves, I am so grateful today for the life my dad provided us with and I can see how it helped to shape me into the well-rounded individual I am today. My mom was able to stay home with me most of the time and today she is still my best friend through and through. Together, my parents set a perfect example for me and taught me so many things about life and love.
My husband and I met during our freshman year of high school and started dating that summer. We have been together ever since! We have already experienced so much in life and I am looking forward to seeing what else God has planned for us and our family. We got married in 2010, had our first little girl in 2012, and our second in 2015. We feel like our family is complete now. People ask me all the time if we are going to “try again for a boy” as if it is not okay to stop having children unless you have one of each gender, but honestly we just feel so beyond blessed to have two healthy, beautiful children and we want to be able to give them the best lives we possibly can.
Since we have been married, we have literally moved eight times, and we will be moving again in a few weeks, for a grand total of nine times… and incase you haven’t done the math, that is NINE times in SIX years! Yeah. We are ready to settle down somewhere. Luckily, my hubby landed an awesome job in Florida and we are only 10 minutes from the white sandy beaches of the Emerald Coast! I think this is a pretty lovely spot to settle down.
As for me, I am a stay-at-home mom, and just recently completed my bachelor’s degree. As far back as I can remember, I have always said I was going to be a doctor when I grow up, and I have struggled with this more than you can imagine because I do not want to give up being a stay-at-home mom. It is so important to me. I have big plans for homeschooling, traveling as a family, and getting the girls involved in extracurricular activities. And that’s the thing… I want to be there for them. I know that I could pursue becoming a physician if I want to, but I might shift gears and try to find a new path that allows me to stay home with my family, while still setting a good example for them. For now, I am going to spend as much time as I can with my family and live life to the fullest! Life is not all about money, it’s not about working, and it’s not about having nice things. It is about relationships and spending time with the ones you love! Think about it… on your deathbed, do you think you would ever look back at your life and say, “I should have gotten that new car”? I doubt it. It is more likely that you’d reflect back on the relationships you had in life. That’s what matters most.
Live simply, Laugh often, Love deeply…
